Quality Account Report Preview

ID Medical Quality Account Report

The Quality Account 2022-2023 contains qualitative measures of two healthcare services delivered by ID Medical Group, ID Medical – Community Skin Surgery Service and ID Medical – Minor Skin Surgery Service. Both are commissioned by NHS Integrated Care Boards.

The report includes information on how ID Medical Group measures how well the healthcare services are run, how they are continuously improving and how they respond to checks made by regulators like the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Need a Chaperone?

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination, or procedure where they feel one is required. The chaperone may be informal i.e. family member or friend. You may prefer a formal chaperone to be present.

If you would like a chaperone present during your consultation, please advise the administrator when booking your appointment, or when checking in for your appointment.

Safeguarding Children and Adults declaration

Safeguarding of children, adults are high priorities for ID Medical, and there is a strong commitment to ensuring that structures and governance arrangements for safeguarding are robust. The protection of children and adults at risk from abuse and neglect is fundamental to delivering health and wellbeing and core to delivering the quality agenda. We ensure that we have appropriate safeguarding systems, including accessible policy and procedure, safe recruitment, training and governance systems. Ipswich and East Suffolk Community Based Care and Advice Centre

ID Medical has been awarded Level 3 Intermediate Minor Surgery Service, which is a community-based care and advice service for all patients who are over 16 year of age and registered with NHS Ipswich & East Suffolk CCG.

We offer intermediate minor surgery service for larger skin lesions and local anaesthetic surgery and lesions in cosmetically sensitive areas – excluding skin cancer.

Our service is based at a purpose built healthcare centre at Felixstowe and we welcome all patients meeting service criteria to use our minor surgery service.

  • Our Clinical Lead, Dr Bashar Shatta, and our Minor Operations team, continue welcoming referrals from our Primary Care colleagues
  • The waiting time for patients to be seen and treated is currently 2-4 weeks
  • We share our patients’ updated care records electronically and securely with GP practices through SystmOne in live time, so patients records are accurate and up to date at any point for reference and optimal healthcare
  • We are committed to delivering excellent service and are continually improving it – taking into consideration feedback from patients and practice teams

Referral: Speak to your GP to be referred to this service. Your GP team is able to book your appointment according to your choice of date and time, through the directly bookable service which is available via electronic Referral Service (eRS). Dr Bashar Shatta

Clinical Lead


A GP (MD MRCS MSc MRCGP FHEA) with a special interest in minor surgery and skin problems. Previously, he was a hospital surgeon and he was trained in plastic surgery but then moved to working in the community as a GP since 2016. He currently works across a number of GP practices in Suffolk including the GP out of hours service. He is also a Senior Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. He works for ID Medical as the Clinical Lead and Skin Surgeon for the Community Minor Operations Service based in Felixstowe.

Professor Fahed Youssef

Medical Director


Fahed (MD, MS, MD(UCL), FRCS) qualified in 1990 from Damascus and moved to the Royal Free Hospital in London where he continued his surgical training. He trained in General and Hepato-biliary surgery and completed his FRCS in 2000. After that, he entered a research period and obtained an MD in vascular Surgery from the University of London. In the year 2003 Professor Youssef joined a higher surgical training rotation in General and vascular surgery in the South West Deanery. He passed his FRCS (Gen Surgery) in 2008 and entered the GMC specialist register after obtaining his CCT in general surgery.
Professor Youssef has been working as a consultant surgeon in the UK since 2009. He moved to Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals (ESNEFT) in January 2012. He is currently working for ID Medical as the Responsible Officer and Caldicott Guardian as well as a Nominated Individual for CQC.

Sabina Grzeda-McArthur

Head of Quality, Improvement & Optimisation at ID Medical


Sabina (MSc) has over 20 years’ experience in the healthcare sector including primary care, unscheduled care, clinical outsourcing and insourcing services. Previously, she was working as Operations Director, leading the expansion of community services by developing safe and innovative models of care at various clinical settings across the UK. She is a nationally recognised award winner (MiP Practice manager of a year 2010).

Sabina is the CQC Registered Manager for ID Medical Group and heads up the quality agenda as ISO Responsible Officer. Sabina’s main focus through service provision is ensuring patient safety and quality assurance.
