Band 6 Biomedical Scientist – Haematology and Blood Transfusion

We have a new opportunity for a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist at Princess Elizabeth Hospital, Guernsey.

  • Contract date: ASAP – Ongoing
  • Shift: Full-Time
  • Days of Shift: Monday to Friday. Saturday mornings on a rota basis and multidisciplinary out of hours’ on-call on a rota basis once fully trained.
  • Time for Shift: 09:00am – 17:00pm
  • Duties: The Biomedical Scientist in Haematology & Blood Transfusion participates in the provision of comprehensive, robust and cost effective diagnostic Haematology & Blood Transfusion services on behalf of the Health and Social Care Committee, acting in accordance with Clinical Governance procedures. The Haematology & Blood Transfusion Departments interact with a wide range of stakeholders. The scientist will deal with multi-professional staff and the public. In addition they must be able to provide advice to clinicians and service users regarding technical aspects of Haematology & Blood Transfusion, with an awareness of the limitations of their experience. The role requires a graduate level of theoretical and practical knowledge of Haematology & Blood Transfusion. The post holder is required to contribute to the training and supervision of support and administrative staff within the IBMS training guidelines. In addition, working individually or as part of a small team, contribute to the development of new procedures and practices for specialist Haematology & Blood Transfusion investigations.
